Minister Angelkova discussed the possibilities for Chinese investments in Bulgarian transport projects at a meeting with her counterpart Feng Dzhanlin 09.09.2014

Bulgaria and China confirmed their interest in cooperation in the field of transport projects investment. This emerged from the meeting of the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Nikolina Angelkova and the Deputy Minister of Transport of the People's Republic of China Feng Dzhanlin.

During the talks Minister Angelkova proposed updating the agreement from 2000 on cooperation in the field of transport between the two countries with a focus on the opportunities for implementation of specific joint projects. The possibility of direct Chinese investment in Bulgarian projects of long-term mutual interest through the establishing of a special project company with Chinese capital was also discussed.

Bulgaria is developing a modern transport and logistical infrastructure, together with our access to waterways to ports on the Black Sea and the Danube river we’re becoming a major leading transport and transit center, said Minister Angelkova during the meeting with her Chinese counterpart Feng Dzhanlin.

At the meeting Minister Angelkova said that Chinese companies can take advantage of opportunities for concession of transport projects in Bulgaria, a strategic partnership with some of our river ports and concessions of Plovdiv airport.

The Chinese Deputy Minister has shown significant interest in the participation of Chinese construction companies in the construction of the third bridge over the river Danube and partnership opportunities in the field of big road and railway projects in Bulgaria.

Minister Angelkova ends her working visit in China. She participated in the annual Summit of Young Global Leaders organized by the World Economic Forum. Nikolina Angelkova was elected as one of the 214 young global leaders. This year the meeting of the young leaders is held in Beijing and brought together more than 1,500 participants from over 90 countries, including politicians, representatives of leading global companies, young leaders, entrepreneurs.
