Minister Angelkova meets with representatives of the maritime sector 01.10.2014

Under the initiative of the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Nikolina Angelkova a meeting was held today with representatives of professional organizations in the field of maritime transport.

During the meeting they discussed legislative issues and other current problems related to water transport. Minister Angelkova expressed the position that any changes in legislation in the sector should be discussed in advance with the industry.

Minister Angelkova informed the business representatives that together with Romania they are working on the project for improvement of navigation on the Danube. The main goal is to optimize the deadlines for preparation in order to apply for funding under the Connecting Europe Facility. This will be one of the main topics of the upcoming Friday meeting of the Minister in Bucharest.

During the meeting the issue of the intention of the Romanian side to introduce a fee of € 150 for the mooring of ro-ro ships in port Beckett will be discussed. This issue was discussed at the meeting today and the sector representatives expressed their appreciation for the emergency measures taken by Minister Angelkova and the state's commitment to the problems of the business.
