The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Nikolina Angelkova met with the EC Regional Policy Commissioner Corina Creţu today, and presented the projects in the scope of Operational Program “Transport and Transport Infrastructure” 2014 – 2020.

“The fact that our meeting was appointed in the first working day of the Commissioner means that we can rely upon her support”, said Nikolina Angelkova. During the meeting the Transport Minister presented in details the priority projects for the new programing period and paid special attention to Humus highway and the arguments for its inclusion in the new program. The project has advanced in its preparation and construction works along the section Yablanitsa – Lovetch can start next year. Furthermore the project complies with the European policy for a balanced development of the regions and is part of the TEN-T network. Commissioner Creţu is to get further acquainted with the documentation.

During the meeting special attention was paid to the Memorandum of Understanding between Bulgaria and Romania on the construction of two new bridges over the Danube, which was signed a few days ago.
According to Commissioner Corina Creţu this is an important step for the improvement of the connectivity between the two countries and could lay the grounds for a closer cooperation in the field of transport.  Minister Angelkova said that we will continue to work actively together with our Northern neighbor on joint projects and she will inform the Regional Policy commissioner on each coordinated activity that the two parties take when preparing the application under Connecting Europe Facility.
