The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski and the Mayor of Russe Municipality Plamen Stoilov signed a contract for transfer without compensation of a 100 % of the assets of Airport Russe EOOD to the Municipality of Russe. They signed the contract at the premises of the Ministry in the presence of a notary.
The transfer of the airport to the Municipality became possible following a Decision of the Council of Ministers dated 19 December 2014. The interests of the local community will be satisfied once the Municipality starts managing the airport. The Municipality of Russe had stated its interest in acquiring the site as the location of the airport is of strategical importance for the town and provides opportunities for combining rail, road, maritime and air transport, as well as restoring the activities of the airport and creating jobs. |
