The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski ordered the inspection of all buses and companies that transport children and students. The inspection is part of the measures related to UN’s Third Global Week for Road Safety “Save children’s lives”, 4-10 May 2015.
Inspectors from Executive Agency “Automobile Administration” have carried out inspections in the whole country and will go on up until the end of the campaign. Transport companies will be thoroughly inspected for compliance with legislative requirement and the technical condition of all the buses that transport children. The checks will also encompass the driving licenses and the necessary certificates.
During the spring break the checks will be carried out at exploitation centers and later at the school premises where they will be coordinated with the schools’ agendas so as not to disrupt them.
“Save children’s lives” is the slogan of the UN’s Third Global Week for Road Safety that is dedicated in child safety. The main objective of the initiative is to raise awareness on the urgent need for better child protection and generate the necessary measures to achieve it. Every day more than 500 children become casualties in road accidents world-wide. In that respect the UN disseminated “Child Declaration on Road Safety” in which children voice their thoughts and fears concerning road traffic. |
