The "Emergency works on reinforcement and drainage in the railway section between the stations Tsareva livada and Gabrovo" project of the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications and State Enterprise National Company "Railway Infrastructure" has been approved for grant funding through funds granted to the Republic of Bulgaria by the EU "Solidarity" Fund.

Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Mr. Anton Ginev and Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Mrs. Denitsa Nikolova signed an agreement to finance the project with a maximum value of 520 000 levs. The affected objects are included in the application for damages of disasters that have occurred as a result of heavy rains in the period 19 June - 23 June 2014. The application was submitted to the "Solidarity" Fund in the summer of last year.

The Ministry of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications is one of the first public institutions that received grants under the EU "Solidarity" Fund.

The grant will support the reconstruction of disaster-stricken railway infrastructure. After the project is completed, the traffic in the section Tsareva Livada - Gabrovo will be realized under normal operational parameters and will be ensured safe movement of trains.

The "Solidarity" Fund was established in order to respond to major natural disasters and as an expression of the European solidarity to the regions affected by disasters throughout Europe.
