Inspectors from Executive Agency “Automobile Administration” issued 70 tickets to taxi drivers on the Bulgarian seaside. The emergency inspection comes after Ivaylo Moskovski Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications received frequent signals of irregular taxis operating in the area of the Black Sea holyday resorts. The inspections took place over the weekend between 20:30 and 04:00.

The Automobile Administration and the Ministry of Interior carried out a joint operation in which 175 taxis were inspected. Most of the violations were related to the lack of price stickers or transportation of passengers without using a taximeter. Furthermore, some of the taxi drivers had a revoked driver license and others did not have a certified taxi license.

The inspectors detained two drivers who submitted forged taxi certificates. The drivers were handed over to the police authorities and pre-trial proceedings were launched.

Other common violations included the lack of driver licenses, violations of driving time and breaks, expired driving licenses, failure to submit checklists, lack of additional equipment, incomplete details in the travel list and lack of travel lists.
