A Bulgarian project of the Rousse Regional Library "Lyuben Karavelov" was nominated by the International Telecommunication Union for the prestigious awards for the Information Society WSIS 2016. The Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications announces each year the terms and the phases of the initiative.
Until January 31, 2016, 400 projects from all over the world applied for the awards. 316 of them, including the Bulgarian initiative, have been nominated to continue in the next phases of the competition.
Currently, the selection of WSIS Awards 2016 is in its third stage. From 6 February to 10 March 2016, by public online voting will be selected three projects that will be awarded.
The Bulgarian project of the Rousse Regional Library "Lyuben Karavelov" participates in the category "Capacity Building". It is aimed at improving the literacy of children in the financial field. The goal is to turn the library into a modern, accessible and innovative environment for children and young people where they acquire basic financial literacy. Young people from Rousse will be taught how to use their mobile devices for managing of their personal finances, investments and philanthropy. The library is equipped with an interactive hall and are elaborated training programs to use financial mobile applications and for presentation of key financial terms.
