Bulgaria was re-elected for a second consecutive term in the managing body of the Universal Postal Union – the Council of Administration, for the period 2016 – 2020. On the eve of the World Post Day - October 9, this is high praise for the Bulgarian administration, commented the Minister of Transport, Information technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski. Bulgaria's reelection happened during the 26th Congress of the Universal Postal Union, which was held from September 20 to October 7, 2016 in Istanbul, Turkey.

During its first term in the Council of Administration  in the period 2012-2016, Bulgaria was working hard to develop the policy for access to the products and services of the organization for all stakeholders. Bulgarian experts participated actively in updating the Convention of the international organization and in the elaboration of the concept to modernize the organization and in making it more efficient structure that meets current challenges which digital technologies set to the postal sector.

As a member of the Council of Administration in the next four years the Bulgarian Postal Administration will continue to contribute to the implementation of the World Postal Strategy of Istanbul, which will guide the Union by 2020.
