European Seminar for Popularization of the Maritime Labor Convention Was Opened in Varna

 In our sea capital city Varna was opened the first European seminar for popularization of the Maritime Labor Convention, organized by the Ministry of Transport, EA “Maritime Administration”, The Ship-owner Association in Bulgaria and the Seamen Syndicate. The forum will continue three days in the health resort “Sunny Day”, hotel “Pallas”.

At the beginning of the seminar the Minister of Transport Peter Mutafchiev, declared the main goal of the convention – to guarantee the fulfillment of international standard requirements by ship-owner and operators, and also to strengthen their enforcement on all levels. The convention determines the minimal requirements for work on board, the work time norms, the living conditions on board, means for recovery and recreation, the water and food supply, medical service, prosperity and social insurance, also said Minister Mutafchiev. Our task today is with joint effort to ensure the optimum for the existence of the maritime branch.

The Transport Minister Peter Mutafchiev declared also that together with the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, maximum efforts will be exerted for the ratification of the convention from our side.

The discussion of the necessary measures and actions, needed for the ratification of the convention and its enforcement in the practice, is the goal of the seminar.
