Minister Mutafchiev Will Visit Burgas

The Minister of Transport will visit Burgas on April 20, 2007, Friday. His Program foresees an examination of Port Burgas, as well as the railway line Karnobat - Sindel. *** The total amount of the project "Enlargement of Port Burgas" is nearly 193 Millions US Dollars. The Investments in the terminal and the building of the new east breakwater are 105 Millions of US Dollars. The dredging of the approach channel is the last stage of the project for the port enlargement. The contract for the dredging was signed on November 23, 2006 with the Belgium firm "Dredging International" with period for accomplishment 12 months. The Project "Doubling and electrification of the railway line Karnobat - Sindel is one of the priority projects for Bulgaria. The 123-kilometers sector connects one of the most loaded European Corridors №8 with the TRASECA corridor, accomplishing the connection between Europe and Asia (between The Black Sea and the Adriatic). It is also a connection unit between the second and eight main railway lines, on the territory of Bulgaria. It is the shortest railway connection between the big ports Varna and Burgas.
