MT and the Governing Body of OP “TRANSPORT” Presented a Report on the Accomplishment of the Program and Its Perspectives for 2007- 2013

The Ministry of Transport and the Governing Body of OP "Transport" presented an analysis of the accomplishment and the development perspectives of OP "Transport" 2007 - 2013. Minister Mutafchiev explained the accomplishment progress of OP "Transport" and the decisions taken by the Committee for program supervision regarding the inclusion of new priority projects. He emphasized that the budget of the priority axis will not be changed with the new projects. Also explained was the way how the resources for the new priority projects will be ensured. The building of the Cresna Defile (LOT 3) and Highway "Struma" will be accomplished in the next programming period. The means for the building of the other lots of "Struma" are in the amount of 250 million Euros. The remaining "Struma" budget means - 350 million Euros will be relocated to highway "Trachia". The Head of the Governing Body of OP "Transport" Nelly Jordanova explained that the result from the analysis "Expenses - Benefits" of the project "Modernization of the railway line Vidin - Sofia" has shown very high investment cost - more than 2,5 billion Euro. In the same time the project preparation for the beginning of the building works is not completed yet. Thus for this programming period only 50 million Euro have been approved by the Committee for the draft works of the project. The remaining resource will be redirected towards the two new priority projects - "Rehabilitation of the Railway Infrastructure along the Railway Line Plovdiv - Burgas and project "modernization of the Railway Line Sofia - Dragoman" Nelly Jordanova presented a review of the projects state, foreseen to be financed by the program. She explained that the governing Body prepares payments in advance to the beneficiary of the booth projects, where the accomplishment works are already started - the expansion of Sofia Metropolitan and the project Electrification and Reconstruction of the Railway Line Svilengrad - Turkish Boundary.
