Two-Day Session of a Workgroup on Trans-Border Railway Traffic between Bulgaria and Greece Began Today

Session of a workgroup formed to create common procedure norms for implementations an agreement between the governments of Bulgaria and Greece began its work today in the Ministry of Transport. The Agreement regulates the trans-border railway traffic between the two countries.

Representatives of MT, the Ministry of Interior, "BDZ" EAD, Bulgarian railway Company, Bulmarket, and the NC "Railway Infrastructure" are participating in the sitting from Bulgarian side, and from side of Greece  - representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the state carrier and the infrastructure superior. The talks on the range of the procedure norms of the agreement began on April 28-29, 2009 in Athens.

The Agreement aims to create a mainframe which to facilitate the activity of the railway personnel at the railway border transitions, as well as to accelerate the crossing of the border for passengers and freights transported by the railways. It corresponds to the European requirements for synchronization of the bilateral contracts with the European Union low.

The regulations included are concerning the activity of the competent border authorities of the two countries, as well as the as the action of the infrastructure superiors and the railway companies in the trans-border railway traffic, accomplished through Kulata-Promahon, Svilengrad-Dikea, as well as the future railway trans-border transitions.
