Minister Tsvetkov and EU Commissioner Tajani Visited the New Metro-Diameter Financed by OP “Transport”

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Aleksandar Tsvetkov met today the Vice - President of the European Commission and Commissioner on Transport Antonio Tajani in MTITC. They visited the City Metropolitan. The activities on the construction of the second Metro-Diameter - Road Junction "Nadeshda" - Central Railway Station - "St. Nedelja" Square - "Cherni Vrach" Boulevard were presented. The project for enlargement of the Metropolitan in the sector is financed by OP "Transport". The value of the project is 185.19 Millions Euro of which 157.41 millions Euro are grants from the European fund for Regional Development. Till now 15% from the building works are accomplished according to the graphic. There are ongoing activities on another three metro stations and till the end of the year the building of another three metro stations will start. The accomplishment of the projects on OP Transport and ISPA were discussed, as well as the absorption of the EU funds and the introduction of the European legal norms in the Bulgarian legislation. Antonio Tajani emphasized that the EU appreciates the great pro-European commitment of the Premier Minister Boyko Borisov and the whole Bulgarian government. The decision of the EU College from September 11, 2009 to recognize as admissible state aid the funds which the Bulgarian government gives for modernization of BDZ wagons is important sign of friendship, said the Vice-President Antonio Tajani. Minister Tsvetkov commented that the priority of the new government is to restore the confidence of Europe. During the conversation was emphasized the progress of the tender procedures, as well as the readiness to overcome the accumulated delays in the projects. We will maintain an active dialogue with the European institutions and will adhere strictly to the European principles and standards for their implementation, said at the end of the meeting, Minister Tsvetkov.
