Discussion of the Health Risk from the Effect of the Base Stations

  Meeting Between the Workgroup and the Mobile Operators

MTITC was host of the meeting between representatives of the mobile operators and the Interdepartmental group, appointed by Boyko Borisov, to examine the European practices on the observation of the base stations operation norms.

The workgroup includes representatives of the Ministry of Heath, The Ministry of Information Technology and Communications, The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works and the "National Building Control" Directorate.

The representatives of the three mobile operators were acquainted with the proposals, prepared by the Workgroup. The goal of the meeting was to hear their position. Till the end of the next day September 24^th the mobile operators should submit their written comments regarding the proposals.

The next step is the preparation of report including reasonable and appropriate steps towards the creation of additional safeguards for public health. The document will propose effective mechanisms of influence by the state in case of broadcasting outside the acceptable norms. It is expected that the Government and the mobile operators will sign a Memorandum of joint actions in this direction.
