Meeting between Minister Tsvetkov and the Director of “Information Society and Media” of EC

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Aleksandar Tsvetkov met today, 24 September the Director-General of "Information Society and Media" of the European Commission Fabio Colasanti. The meeting is an accent in the program of the delegation, leaded by Colasanti, which is inspecting the advance of Bulgaria in the field of the electronic communications, in connection with the 15^th regular report in the sector within the European Union.

Questions connected with the development of the IT and the Communications in Bulgaria were discussed. Minister Tsvetkov said that despite the inherited retardation in many areas activities are being undertaken in order to register a progress in some critical fields, as the clearing of the spectrum and harmonization of the legislation. The extraordinary importance of he building of the infrastructure for broadband access in the slow-developing regions and the villages was emphasized. The transition from analog to digital television, as well as the expected legislation changes towards the stimulation of the e-services was also part of the discussed topics.

Minister Aleksandar Tsvetkov and Fabio Colasanti will present the results from the visit on a press conference on September 25^th, at 11am in Hall 3 of the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications.
