A Seminar on the Subject of “Supporting the Railway Infrastructure in the Long Term”

Тhe Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski opened the concluding seminar on the project of the Development of Long Term Support of the Railway Infrastructure of National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC). Karl van Kesteren, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bulgaria, also had welcoming words for the participants. The project is funded by the Agency for International Business and Cooperation (EVD), branch of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. MTITC is a partner and NRIC - beneficiary of the project. Executors are the Dutch companies NEA and Tebodin, the Institute on Transport and Communications and the Dutch infrastructural governor - ProRail. The purpose of the seminar was to introduce the preparedness of the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, the Ministry of Finance (MF) and NRIC for the forthcoming negotiations for a new long-term contract about the development of the railway infrastructure in 2010. Presentations were made on the policy of Bulgaria in the railway sector and the model developed by the consultants for evaluating the expenses on the support work of the railway infrastructure in NRIC. The project was highly regarded by all the participants in the meeting. Using it as a basis, it will be possible to plan the long-term involvement of the country in the support and development of the railway infrastructure. In the concluding seminar, there was participation from representatives of MTITC, MF, the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism, NRIC and Railway Administration Executive Agency. Present were also the project partners from the Netherlands' side - NEA, Tebodin, the Institute on Transport and Communications and the Dutch infrastructural governor - ProRail as well as representatives of the World Band and of the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management of the Netherlands.
