25.01.2011
The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Aleksandar Tsvetkov opened the campaign for road safety “Rely on your brakes. Do not stop the life!” that is held under the aegis of the minister.
During the event minister Tsvetkov said that the technical repair and the good working order of the car’s brakes are very important for the road safety.
One of the priorities of the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications is the road safety. For the past year and a half were undertaken many measures in this direction as stopping the corruption and the trade with driving licenses as well as tightening of the control of the technical inspection stations, said Aleksandar Tsvetkov. MTITC launched a number of campaigns related to the quality of the tires and the burnt of the cars. As a result of these actions and the work of the other institutions bound up in the problem, in 2010 the number of the victims on the road was reduced to the level in 1965 when cars were several times less. That means that during the last year the trend was turned. This shows that the actions of the state through a change in the legislation and the implementation of campaigns give real results. Although the inspection and the change of brake fluid are not obligatory, Minister Aleksandar Tsvetkov appealed to all drivers to pay attention to the quality of the brake fluid. He called them to take advantage of the free tests that are part of the campaign.
Within the framework of the campaign the organizers will equip 50 service-stations in the country for free test of the brake fluid. Until now there are 19 equipped service-stations.
The campaign “Rely on your brakes. Do not stop the life!” aims to intensify the public attention about the prevention of road accidents, caused by non-effective brake fluid.
The brake fluid is one of the most important components. Automobile producers recommend its replacement every two years.
The project on road safety “Rely on your brakes. Do not stop your life!” will be officially nominated on February, 1, 2011 in Brussels by the European Commission on road safety in the category – “Large multinational companies”.
During the event speeches were made by Plamen Bobokov, Chairman of the board of managers of Prista Oil and the Bulgarian rally champion Rumen Dunev who is a face of the campaign.
The campaign was held under the patronage of Minister Aleksandar Tsvetkov in partnership with: Traffic Police, State-Public Consultative Commission on the problems of road safety, Bulgarian Association of people insured and victims in car accidents, Valvoline, Mobiltel, Petrol, Darik Radio, National Association of Bulgarian carriers. |
