Minister Alexander Tsvetkov: we put an end to the thefts of fuel in Bulgarian State Railways

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Aleksandar Tsvetkov presented a Global Positioning Systems (GPS) for tracking of the diesel engines of Holding Bulgarian State Railways EAD.
From today we put an end to one more tap from where were run off Bulgarian State Railways. GPS mechanisms for tracking will be installed in all 138 diesel engines by the end of April, said Minister Aleksandar Tsvetkov. The installation of GPS will establish a full control over the traffic of the locomotives, the consumption and the level of the fuel in the feedtank of each locomotive. On the average Bulgarian State Railways use 1 400 tons diesel per month. The expenditures for fuel were about 26 million levs during the last year.
Between 200 and 500 litres of diesel were run off monthly. In the last year 29 employees of 66 punished, were dismissed for breach because of theft of more than 2 tons of fuel. Since the beginning of the year up to now near 1 ton of diesel is run off and the dismissed employees are 5. All of them are delivered to the police.
The GPS for tracking of the locomotives costs 229 thousand levs that will be paid on equal payments. Data from the GPS will be received every 30 seconds in a united centre of Bulgarian State Railways. The GPS systems will be checked every day by the office for interior security of Bulgarian State Railways and by employees responsible for the control of the expenditure rates and will be realized control refer to manipulations and damages. |
