The construction of the subway from “Tsarigradsko shosse” to the new terminal of Sofia airport will be financed under Operational Programme on Transport. This was announced by Minister of Transport and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski during the Monitoring Committee of OP, which was held in Pravetz. European funding will be provided for the rehabilitation and modernization of the Central Railway Station in Sofia, as well as the intermodal terminal in Plovdiv.

The Monitoring Committee voted 110 million from priority axis IV (for Improvement of the maritime and inland-waterway navigation) to be transferred to Priority Axis III (Improvement of intermodality for passenger and freight). The funds were provided for improving navigation on the Danube river in Batin - Belene. During the forum it became clear that Bulgaria and Romania signed a joint declaration which renounces its implementation in this programming period. Both countries declared that it remains a priority in the future. Bulgaria allocates 10 million euros from the OP "Transport" for project preparation for the next programming period.
National Company "Railway Infrastructure" gave up the construction of an intermodal terminal in Sofia during the programming period 2007 - 2013, for the account of a similar project in Plovdiv.

Beneficiaries are paid over 400 million, which represents about 20% of the funds. To date, certified and sent to European Commission demands for payments amounting to over 23% of the program budget. "The bottom line shows that requests sent to the last year are more than all previous years up to now," the Minister added.
