Danail Papazov: Two railway facilities will be renovated which will improve access to the Bulgarian symbols - Pliska and the Madara Horseman
13.07.2013
Construction of the new railway station in the centre of Madara is included in the State Enterprise “National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC)” investment programme for 2013 and 2014, said the Minster of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Danail Papazov during a transport inspection of sites in the region. “This project is highly anticipated by locals and thousands of Bulgarian and foreign tourists alike because it will facilitate access to one of Bulgaria’s national symbols – the Madara Horsemen” said Minister Papazov. According to him, the construction of the new station will improve passenger service and provide better conditions for combined transport to the historical and archaeological reserve “Pliska”. The new railway station will have a positive impact on the local small to medium sized enterprises in the area of tourism, trade and services.
Currently, the associated infrastructure near the station is in poor condition and there is no asphalt road nearby. The project will provide easy and safe boarding and alighting of passengers in the village’s centre as well as construction of platforms, disability ramps and modern sheds. The estimated value of the construction works total at around 300 000 Lev.
After visiting the train station in Shumen, Minister Papazov announced that repairs of the roof of the entrance and telecommunication premises are underway. The heavy rains that took place over the past months have caused leakages which pose an actual risk to the NRIC’s signaling and telecommunications equipment, as well as a cause of discomfort in the visitors’ waiting room. The estimated repair costs are around 59 000 Lev including VAT. They are covered in the SE “NRIC” investment programme for 2013.
After the transport projects inspection, Minister Papazov met with the Mayor of Shumen, Krasimir Kostov, and visited the city’s industrial park. |
