Minister Papazov attends the commissioning of the two new mobile port cranes at Varna – West

This year only, we are investing more than 10 million Lev in the port infrastructure of the port of Varna. This was said by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Danail Papazov during the official commissioning of the two new mobile port cranes at Varna - West.

“I hope that by the end of the year we will be able to start the project for deepening of the bottom of the zero-quay port of Varna – West. Analysis shows that within a few years, it will result in an increase by several million tons of the volume of liquid and dangerous goods which are passing through the port", said Minister Papazov.

In his words only for the first six months of 2013, the port of Varna generated revenue of almost 28 million Lev and processed around 4.5 million tons of cargo. "I know from personal experience how the port of Varna operates and the efforts every single employee puts in order to make this one of the most successful companies in the field of transport", added Danail Papazov.

The two new cranes are of the HMK 170 Е type with diesel-electric drive, they are universal and they could be used for general and bulk cargoes and for containers. In heavy goods operations, they can operate at a speed of ascent: 63 t. in 32 min, and for standard operations: 45 t. in 40 minutes. The length of the arrow of each one is 38 m.

Their value is nine million Lev and they are to pay off in about three years.
