Deputy Minister Petar Kirov inspected the rаilway line Karnobat - Sindel
28.08.2013
Today The Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Petar Kirov inspected the railway section Burgas - Dalgopol which is part of the Burgas – Sindel project.
The railway line is part of the Trans-European Corridor № 8 and has a good project capacity which gives us good grounds to seek EU funding for its implementation, said Petar Kirov. In his words one of the projects to be financed in the next programming period of the Operational Programme "Transport" is the rehabilitation of the railway line Ruse - Varna and the section to Karnobat will provide quick access to the southern part of the country. This is a prerequisite for attracting additional cargo especially after the completion of the project for constructing a tunnel under the Bosphorus, he added.
The project for constructing a railway line between Burgas and Sindel was set in 1981. The construction works began five years later but over the years it has repeatedly been suspended due to lack of funding. Currently there are three overhead railways that have been constructed at the outfall of Tsonevo dam. A number of sections in the region are with a newly sided railway. The construction of three tunnels is set in the project. The tunnel between Lyulyakovo and Daskalovo is fully constructed, it is accessible and has been put into operation. The tunnel between Lozarevo and Prilep is partially constructed and the one between Daskotina and Tarnak is completed but there is no route to it.
National Railway Infrastructure Company estimates that about BGN 420 million are needed for the completion of the entire project. |
