Minister Danail Papazov: All railway projects under OP “Transport” are in progress

All railway projects under the Transport Operational Programme are in progress. This was stated by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Danail Papazov today at the Stamboliiski railway station during the official start of the construction works of the railway section Pazardzhik - Stamboliiski. In his words, the total value of the railway projects under OP "Transport" is over 1 billion lev.
"Today we begin working on the section Pazardzhik – Stamboliiski, and within a month we will start works on the entire section Plovdiv - Septemvri", said Minister Papazov. Over 300 million lev are being invested in the region because of the projects under OP "Transport". This will not only improve the railway infrastructure, but will also contribute to the creation of new jobs”.
Minister Danail Papazov said that the railway section Pazardzhik - Stamboliiski covers 19 km, and the whole line is 53 km, which will allow trains to reach the speed of 160 km/h.
LOT 2: "Modernization of the railway section Pazardzhik - Stamboliiski" is part of the project "Modernization of the railway sector Septemvri - Plovdiv", which is carried out by the funds under Operational Programme "Transport" 2007-2013. The contract value for the construction of the railway section Pazardzhik - Stamboliiski is approximately 66 million lev including VAT. The project includes the construction of a new track-side at the railway stations of Ognianovo and Stamboliiski, as well as the construction of a new pedestrian subway at Ognianovo railway station, and the modernization of the existing railway station of Stamboliiski. Both subways will be equipped with elevators. New platforms and ramp covers, as well as noise protection fences, will be built at the railway stations and stops in the area. The communication network throughout the railway section will be updated. The construction works on the site are to be completed by the end of 2015.
The ceremony was attended by H.E. Jose Luis Tapia, the Ambassador of Spain, parliamentarians, and representatives of the local and central authorities. |
