Post stamp marks the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of FC “Levski”

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Danail Papazov issued a post stamp dedicated on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of FC “Levski”.
“For 25 years the team was associated with the Bulgarian Post and it was the post office employees’ team”, said Minister Papazov at the ceremony. “In 1964 the first philatelic edition of the “blue” team was issued for the 50th anniversary of the club with which it became the first Bulgarian football club to be issued a post stamp”, recalled Minister Papazov. Later on, the images of Georgi Asparuhov -Levski’s legendary centre forward and the Bulgarian national team have been represented on stamps.
“The new post stamp for FC “Levski” depicts the composition of the team from 1933 when it won the first championship”, added Minister Danail Papazov.
The edition is circulated in 20 000 copies. The artist of the project is Lyudmil Veselinov.
The validation ceremony was attended by members of Parliament, the club’s executive director Konstantin Bazhdekov, philatelists and football experts. |
