Minister Danail Papazov and the President of the National Assembly Mihail Mikov validated a post stamp on the occasion of "135 years parliamentarism in Bulgaria"

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Danail Papazov and the President of the National Assembly Mihail Mihov validated a stamp on the occasion of 135 years parliamentarism in Bulgaria. The ceremony was held at the National Assembly on the occasion of the anniversary of the first Constituent Assembly in Veliko Tarnovo in 1879 and the adoption of the Tarnovo Constitution.

The Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications has established the tradition of celebrating important events and anniversaries with the release of special stamps, said Minister Danail Papazov during the event. He added that so far over 10 philatelic produscts related to the National Assembly have been in circulation.

"The four stamps that we validate today represent important symbols of parliamentarism – the Tarnovo Constitution, the President of the first National Assembly in Bulgaria Exarch Antim I, the first parliamentary bell, the journal of the plenary sessions as well as the current Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria", said Danail Papazov.

During his speech, Minister Papazov recalled the basic principles of democracy the Constitution lays - freedom, peace, humanism, equality, justice and tolerance, as well as the words of the Apostle: "In our Bulgaria all nations will live according to the same pure and holy laws ... and Turks and Jews ... and so on, be what may, ... they will be equal. 

The philatelic edition, which was validated today, consists of four post stamps, a block stamp and a special post seal. The artist is Ivelina Velinova. The post stamp is being circulated in 11 000 copies.

The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Georgi Todorov, the President of the Union of Bulgarian Philatelists Spas Pantchev, the Executive Director of "Bulgarian Posts" Valentin Petkov, MPs and guests.
