Deputy Minister Petar Kirov: Bulgaria supports initiatives to improve road safety

Bulgaria supports initiatives to improve control activities, exchange of information and best practices to improve road safety. This position was expressed by the Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Petar Kirov during today's meeting of the Informal Council of Transport Ministers of the EU in Athens. Deputy Minister Petar Kirov supported the fair and effective competition in the road transport sector.
The main topic of today's meeting of the council is "Current challenges in road safety for smart infrastructure development ". The participating transport ministers of the EU voiced their positions on key issues related to road safety policy and actions to be taken to establish an integrated framework for improving and control of driving behavior of in Europe. The actions that need to be promoted at EU level for safer and more effective roads, through deployment of intelligent transport systems and the coordinated use of available funding mechanisms for achieving the objectives of road safety, were also discussed.
Within the informal Council of Transport Ministers of the EU, the French Minister in charge of Transport , Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Frederic Cuvillier presented the results of the Conference on road cargo transportations entitled "Harmonisation of European social policies", which took place on April 16, 2014 , in Paris. |
