“The Bulgarian railway company carries out technical inspections of the rolling stock and railway infrastructure on a daily basis. In my opinion the railway transport is still among the safest modes of transport. We continue to work on the improvement of the quality of the transport service and I believe more people will travel by train”, said the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Danail Papazov in today’s BNT morning programme.
“Currently we are negotiating with the construction companies of sections of the railway infrastructure for the emergency provision of two switches since they were most affected and have to be replaced immediately”, added the Minister. The amount is still not calculated but it is expected to be in the thousands. The loss for the national railway carrier after the accident amounts to almost 2 million levs. |
