Deputy Minister Georgi Todorov opens the Second Meeting of the Heads of Maritime Administrations of the Black and Caspian Seas States

The Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Georgi todorov and the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization Koji Sekimizu opened the Second Meeting of the Heads of Maritime Administrations of the Black and Caspian Seas States and the Seminar on Acceptance and Implementation of the IMO Conventions.
„Bulgaria, a member of the IMO for more than 50 years now, supports fully the efforts of the organization to implement single policies and requirements for safe shipping and environmental protection”, said Deputy Minister Todorov. He added that the Bulgarian Maritime Administration works towards the successful implementation of the IMO conventions.
In his speech IMO Secretary General Koji Sekimizu underlined the importance of implementing the organization’s regulations by all member states. In his words IMO conventions are of significant importance for the improvement of maritime transport safety.
During the conference that is taking place from 15 to 17 September in Varna, the participants will discuss the opportunities for broadening the cooperation between member states and will identify the means to deploy IMO instruments.
The international event gathers representatives of the maritime administrations of 11 countries from Eastern Europe and West Asia. The event was also attended by representatives of the Black Sea Commission, Black Sea Economic Cooperation, the European Maritime Safety Agency and others. |
