18.09.2014

So far the inspection on the school buses, which started in the beginning of September, shows that the inspected vehicles suit the legal requirements and are roadworthy. This was stated today by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Nikolina Angelkova during the inspection on the school buses in the capital.

Minister Nikolina Angelkova stated that all the companies that provide transport to children and students have been inspected and the purpose of the inspection is prevention. It was strictly monitored for the roadworthiness, for the required documents for carrying out this type and capacity of the drivers. From 15 September the inspections on the road actively continued. Minister Nikolina Angelkova pointed out that massive inspections will continue until the end of the month and then a monitoring throughout the whole school year will be done.

Minister Angelkova announced that up to now the inspectors from the Executive Agency "Automobile Administration" have revealed four violations of 1600 inspected buses, and four statements are drown up for that. Only one of the statements is for technical failure - worn tires, as the bus was stopped by motion until removing the violation and until the periodic technical inspection is passed.

The other three acts are due to the absence of the required signs indicating the transportation of children and the absence of certification of fire extinguishers. Minister Angelkova added that both the buses of private companies and the vehicles which are owned by the Ministry of Education and Science and the municipalities have been inspected.

Minister Nikolina Angelkova calls upon all carriers, responsible institutions and school directors to look extremely serious to the transportation of children and to pay attention to the technical condition of the vehicles, the pre-travel technical inspections and medical examinations and the behavior of the drivers, because this is one of the most important elements related to the transport safety.

During the event, Minister Angelkova announced the the free transportation of children on regular bus lines at the insistence of the branch organizations has been proposed to the Ministry of Finance to increased funds for subsidizing these operations with almost 5 million levs, which should be envisaged in Budget 2015.
