The Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Kamen Spassov opened the International Philatelic Exhibition Bulgaria – Portugal and the International Collectors Fair BULCOLLECTO 2014

The Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Kamen Spassov opened the International Philatelic Exhibition Bulgaria – Portugal and the International Collectors Fair BULCOLLECTO 2014 in Plovdiv.

The Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications has supported the organization of the philatelic event since the first edition in 2010, said Kamen Spassov. He emphasized that this year the collectors’ expo is dedicated to the 135th anniversary of the postal communications in Bulgaria and the 25th anniversary of the European Philately Federation.

Two interesting postal-philatelic publications were put into circulation at the opening of the exhibitions. The postal card "BULCOLLECTO 2014" depicts a remarkable architectural ensemble of the Old Town of Plovdiv – Ritora’s house. It was declared a cultural monument of national importance. The circulation of the illustrated postcard is 1245 copies, and the artist of the edition is Kapka Kaneva.

The topic of the second edition is transport. It consists four postal stamps and depicts the history of the electric tram. The edition depicts trams on the streets of Berlin, Melbourne, Glasgow and the newest electric tram, which travels in Sofia. The four transport stamps are printed out in circulation of respectively 45 000 copies, 65 000 copies, 25 000 copies and 15 000 copies. The artist of the projects is Krasimira Despotova.

After the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister Kamen Spassov was awarded an honorary badge of the Philatelists Union in Bulgaria as an expression of gratitude for the support and good cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications and the Bulgarian philately.
