Minister Mutafchiev Was Informed from His Ukraine Colleague about the Ship “Katia Z”

The Minister of Transport Peter Mutafchiev received at 5am, today, fax from his Ukraine counterpart Victor Bondar, concerning the actions taken to take out the motor ship “Katia Z”, captured from the ice blocks on January 28, 2006 close to port Primorsk. Minister Bondar assure his Bulgarian colleague, that the Ministry of Transport and Communication of Republic of Ukraine will take all measures to resolve the emergency situation and informed him in detail for the concrete actions of the institution he leads. As indicated in the information, at that moment, two towboats “Pluton” and “Vitiaz” are at the place of the incident. According to operative information, yesterday, February 2, 2006 at 3am the towboat “Portovik” has neared the ship. *** Motor Ship “Katia Z” runs aground close to port Primorsk on January 28th Saturday, at 5pm local time. The ship navigates under the flag of the Caribbean state Saint Vincent and Grenadine and is hired from the firma “Varna Shipping and Trading”. The Crew consists of 14 Bulgarian and 4 Ukraine sailors. Captain of the ship is k.p.d. Jancho Nikolov. The ship sails away at midnight on January 22, 2006 from port Berdianks to port Burgas. On his way it fails into ice field and runs aground.
