16.12.2014
Among the priorities of the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications is the limitation of the negative impact that transport has on environment, said the Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Anton Ginev today during the opening of the forum presenting the Green Freight Transport Cluster.
Deputy Minister Ginev also said that the Ministry’s activities focus on stimulating the development of eco-friendly modes of transport such as rail, waterborne and intermodal. In the past few years very good results have been achieved under Operational Program Transport 2007 – 2013. He added that a project for the construction of an intermodal terminal in Plovdiv has been in progress with funds from the program as its physical implementation is to start in shortest time.
In the new program period the total budget of Operational Program Transport and Transport Infrastructure 2014 – 2020 is 1.9 billion Euros, 673 million Euros out of which will be allocated to railway infrastructure, and some 24 million Euros to the construction of intermodal terminals. Anton Ginev also assured that the Ministry will continue to implement the mechanisms for concession for the development of ports, airports and railway stations. |
