Minister Ivaylo Moskovski: A lot of time was lost under OP Transport
17.12.2014
A great amount of time was lost in the implementation of OP Transport 2007 – 2013, said the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski at a media seminar in Russe. Some of the projects have been delayed with a whole year.
“The good news is that as at 2014 there will be no loss of funds thanks to the successful implementation of the project for the expansion of the underground, said the Transport Minister. The whole available resource has been contracted and nearly 2.7 billion Levs have been repaid, which is about 69 per cent of the program budget. “Compared to other operational programs, the result is very good, yet we still have to repay some 1.4 billion Levs by the end of the next year”, added the Minister.
It emerged from the event that under OPT 2007 – 2013 242 km of railroad were rehabilitated, 140 km of highways and 49 km of roads were constructed, 13 km of new underground lines and 13 stations were constructed and opened. By the end of next year some 260 km of railroad are to be rehabilitated, as two rail stations will be modernized – in Burgas and Sofia. An intermodal terminal will be constructed in Plovdiv. Some 7.6 km of underground lines and 7 new stations are to be commissioned.
The focus of the media seminar in Russe was the implementation of the project for the construction of a River Information Centre. Tomorrow the hi-tech center is to be opened and it will manage vessel traffic on the river Danube. The seminar was attended by the Deputy Director General of Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company Stilyan Krotnev, the Head of Programming Department at MTITC Martin Georgiev, representatives of the contractor and beneficiaries in the project. |
