No railway lines to be stopped, yet the number of trains drops

BDZ Passenger Services EOOD will be allocated some 140 million Levs in 2015 under the PSO contract with the state, said the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski today at the meeting of the Committee on Transport, Information Technology and Communications at the National Assembly. He added that the state budget envisages 30 million Levs capital transfer, yet those funds will be used to repay the debts of the company towards its creditors. Some 40 million Levs will be added to them provided the European Commission agrees that those finances are provided by the state budget.
Minister Ivaylo Moskovski informed the members of the Transport Committee that the loss for 2014 for BDZ Cargo Services EOOD will amount to 12 million Levs, while for BDZ Passenger Services the amount will reach 15 million Levs.
Ensuring safe railway transport is among our main priorities and in 2015 13 out of the 17 carriages that service shorter lines will be stopped, said the Minister and added that there will be a shortage of 12.5 million Levs for the most urgent repair works on rolling stock.
We recall that on 10 December 2014 Minister Moskovski presented to the Committee the measures that will be undertaken by the national carrier in case of a reduction of the subsidy for the company, namely stopping trains, changes in the routes and lay-offs. |
