MTITC experts participate in planning meetings on the preparation of an Internet Governance Regional Forum and EuroDIG 2015

The Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications is an institutional partner to Unicart, Bulgaria in the preparation of a Regional Forum and European Dialogue on Internet Governance (EuroDIG 2015), which will take place in Sofia in the period 3-5 June 2015. Annually EuroDIG’s hosts are different European countries, and what is new this year is that the Forum will be preceded by Regional Meeting of South East European countries on Internet Governance.
MTITC experts participated in the discussion of the agenda for the two events. Representatives of the national organizer, the international organizing team, the EC, the Council of Europe, the European Broadcasting Union, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Communications Regulation Commission, the European and Bulgarian Internet Community, and international organizations sponsoring the event took part in the discussions.
A total of 72 proposals were grouped into several key categories: Innovations and Economic Development, Human Rights, Accessibility (Equality/Digital Divide), Participation in Formulating Internet Governance Policy, Security, etc. The most important topics to be included in the panel discussions are among others: Participation in Formulating Internet Governance Policy, Network Neutrality, Security of Internet Governance Processes, Single Digital Market, and Freedom of Expression in the Digital Age. Special attention will be paid to the specific problems of Internet governance in South East European countries. According to representatives of the Council of Europe, the Governmental Advisory Committee and the international organizing team, placing emphasis on the regional aspect of the issues discussed is essential. During the Regional Round Table that is to take place on 3 June, regional issues are to be formulated to be discussed later at EuroDIG 2015 .
The overarching theme for the Internet Governance Regional Forum is: "Multistakeholder Internet governance: from the global debates to the SEE realities" while the overarching theme for the open platform of EuroDIG 2015 is: “Shaping the Internet together ”.
