Minister Ivaylo Moskovski and his Albanian counterpart discussed speeding up the construction of Corridor VIII

The Minister of Transport, information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski and the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Albania Edmond Haxhinasto discussed enhancing the cooperation between Bulgaria and Albania in view of speeding up the construction of the Trans-European corridor Bari/Brindisi – Duress – Tirana – Skopje – Sofia – Burgas/Varna (Pan-European Corridor VІІІ). This emerged from the 6th session of the Joint Bulgarian-Albanian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, which is taking place on 19 and 20 March 2015 in Tirana, Albania.
Minister Ivaylo Moskovski said that the implementation of the project will provide one of the shortest connections from the South of Europe and the Mediterranean through the Balkans to Caucasus, the region of Middle Asia and Far East. In his words, the complete construction and modernization will contribute to the development of the transport network in the Balkans by creating conditions for effective transport communication between Europe and the Far East and for sustainable development of interregional economies.
During his visit to Tirana Minister Moskovski met with the Minister of Innovations and Public Administration of Albania Milena Harito. At the meeting, the Albanian party was presented a draft of a new bilateral agreement for cooperation in the field of information technologies and electronic communications with the aim to initiate negotiations. The possibility for the territory of Albania to be included in the area serviced by the satellite system BULSAT-30 B-1,9 E was discussed. Other topics related to bilateral relations were discussed.
