Deputy Minister Valery Borissov discussed the project for common telecommunications infrastructure with his Romanian and Serbian colleagues

The initiative if the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications for a common telecommunication infrastructure between Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia was discussed at a meeting between Deputy Minister Valery Borissov, the Romanian Minister of Information Society Sorin Grindeanu and the charge d’affairs Deputy Minister of Trade, Tourism and Communications of Serbia Sava Savic. The talks were held within Deputy Minister Borissov’s visit to Bucharest to participate in the regional high-level meeting on cyber security.
The project for development of broadband network in border regions of the three countries will apply for financing under Connecting Europe Facility, announced Valery Borissov. The common communication systems will economically boost not only the border regions and local business, but also the interaction between administrations, universities and cultural institutions. “Last but not least, in case of a local problem with the optical routes, the connectivity of the neighboring countries could be used without disruptions for the end-users”, added Valery Borissov.
The Bulgarian and the Romanian parties have already appointed their representatives in the tripartite working group and next week Serbia will appoint theirs. In a month the working group will design the project and present it in Brussels as a next step.
At the meeting the further cooperation between the National Computer Security Incidents Response Teams of Bulgaria and Rmania was discussed.
Earlier today Deputy Minister Valery Borissov presented the measures in case of cyber-security threats in the countries in the region before the participants in the meeting in Bucharest. He reported that the draft National Cyber Security Strategy had progressed and was to be presented for public consultations.
The Romanian Minister of Information Society Sorin Grindeanu and the Deputy Secretary of USA Trade Department Bruce Andrews hosted the regional meeting. At the event they discussed the common threats and the corresponding resources, solutions and opportunities for regional cyber security cooperation.
As a continuation of the initiative, several events in the field of cyber security were organized in Poland and Romania for US companies to present the latest solutions that they offer in the field. |
