Bulgarian cultural sites in the UNESCO list depicted on a postcard for the 70th anniversary of the international organization

23.07.2015

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski and UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova validated a post card dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the organization. This is the first time a postal-philatelic item represents a large part of the Bulgarian cultural sites that have been declared unique world heritage by UNESCO. The validation seal was laid in the presence of MPs, diplomats and philatelists.

During the ceremony, Minister Ivaylo Moskovski thanked the organization and personally Director General Irena Bokova for the support in the preservation of the Bulgarian cultural and historical heritage. Irina Bokova expressed her hope that the next postal stamp dedicated to UNESCO will depict even more Bulgarian sites that will be added to the global list of world heritage.

The post card for the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the international organization is in circulation of 1454 copies, and the artist of the project is Maya Cholakova. Since the mid-20th century 20 stamps have been issued in Bulgaria, which are dedicated to the United Nations and its structures. The first one was dedicated to the UNESCO building in Paris.
