Minister Moskovski met with Georgia Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski held a working meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili and with the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili.

Minister Moskovski is in Georgia to participate in the international High Level Forum "Silk Road", which is held in Tbilisi in the period October 15 to 16. The event is under the initiative of the Prime Minister of Georgia and aims at creating a platform for annual high-level meetings between interested countries and international organizations. It is aimed at exploring opportunities for collaboration and partnership in improving transport, energy, trade and contacts between businesses.

Within the framework of the meeting they discussed the development of the transport corridor from Iran to Europe, crossing Azerbaijan-Armenia-Georgia-the Black Sea, as Minister Ivaylo Moskovski pointed out that this will lead to the development of shipments via the three modes of transport - road, rail and water. Another topic discussed in the meeting was the establishment of a direct air line between Bulgaria and Georgia, as well as the possibilities to launch flights to and from Tbilisi from the airports in Sofia, Varna and Burgas.

The main topic of the meeting was the strengthening of trade between the two countries in the Bulgarian ports of Varna and Burgas and the Georgian Batumi and Poti. Minister Moskovski present the investment policy in the waterway sector and noted that last month coastal centers for shipping information services were opened in Varna and Burgas. The developed system allows for the better monitoring of the status and movement of ships in order to avoid accidents, collision, grounding and pollution.

During the event, a high level political declaration was adopted on cooperation issues related to the development of the Silk Road.

The forum was attended by representatives of the Georgian Government, China, USA, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, representatives of the European Commission, a number of international organizations and others.
