Projects with Bulgarian participation on early oncological diagnosis and "smart" accessories will be funded under "Horizon 2020"

Five Bulgarian organizations will receive funding under the 'Information and communications technology” (ICT) of the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation "Horizon 2020" at the amount of € 1 078 088. The Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications coordinates the Bulgarian participation in the ICT program of "Horizon 2020". In 2015 was organized an information day on which was announced that submission of the proposals begins on October 20, 2015 and ends on April 12, 2016. 42 Bulgarian organizations took submitted 35 projects.
Two of the approved projects involve Sofia University "St. St. Kliment Ohridski ". Bulgarian scientists will develop a tool to predict the development of breast cancer at an early stage. The aim is to help oncologists to make quick decisions regarding the therapy of patients and improve life expectancy. The project has the potential for application for other types of cancer.
Within the second project with the participation of representatives of Alma Mater will be developed and presented a platform that will facilitate communication between individual users, energy providers and the institutions responsible for energy policy.
The third approved project envisages the makers of intelligent devices, embedded in clothes and accessories, to work in cooperation with designers to produce intelligent textiles and a variety of "smart" accessories. It will develop a sustainable European network of stakeholders and centers to promote collaboration between artists and authors of new technologies. There will be created a framework for the development of future prototypes.
Under an "Information and Communications Technology" Program will be financed also a platform to facilitate access to corporate data in the European Union. The project aims to simplify the collection of data from various sources and the provision of cross-border and multilingual information for companies and organizations.
Children may become authors of e-books, once a technological opportunity is elaborated under a project that will also be funded under the program. The portal will allow pupils to create their own stories that reflect their imagination. The works of the pupils (paintings, models, installations, 3D objects, landscapes, cartoons, science videos, theatre plays, etc.) will be summarized and integrated into interactive electronic books. |
