12 projects worth BGN 1.16 billion have been approved under the Transport Connectivity Programme 2021-2027 by the end of September 2024. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Dimitar Nedyalkov during the opening of the Logistics Business Conference 2024, organized by the magazine "Transport Connectivity 2024". "Logistics".
"A total of BGN 3.7 billion has been made available for transport projects in the current programming period. The larger ones, which are already in the process of implementation, are the continuation of the activities for the modernization of the railway lines Elin Pelin-Kostenets and Plovdiv-Burgas, the extension of the port of Burgas and studies for the implementation of the ERTMS system in railway transport," said Deputy Minister Nedyalkov.
He noted that by the end of the year procedures for two very important projects will be opened. The first is for the construction of alternative fuel charging stations on the national road network and in ports. And the second - to support intermodal operators.
Deputy Minister Nedyalkov pointed out that a total of 92 million leva had been provided under the programme for the construction of charging stations for alternative fuels. Of these, BGN 42.4 million are earmarked for the construction of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles on the TEN-T network, and BGN 49.6 million for the construction of alternative fuel infrastructure in ports.
"34.5 million leva have been secured under the project to support intermodal operators. Eligible candidates are all operators of railway terminals, port operators, as well as operators of logistics and freight forwarding terminals in the interior of the country," said Deputy Minister Dimitar Nedyalkov.
The Deputy Transport Minister also noted that the safety and security of transport is a topic he is personally committed to. "In recent months, I have had many discussions with all responsible institutions to initiate actions to ensure the safe transportation of goods in the country. We are also in dialogue with all port operators to take joint measures to restrict access to ports by overloaded heavy vehicles," he said. According to him, this will have a serious preventive effect, which will discipline shippers and carriers so that they do not allow overloaded vehicles on the roads, which, besides destroying the road infrastructure, are dangerous for other road users.
