Over 32 000 protected names of geographic, cultural sightseeings and state institutions were considered and approved by the Public Council on IT and Internet to the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Ivaylo Moskovski. General concepts such as "municipality", "district", "village"; names of political parties and states are preserved. Names of peaks, lakes, waterfalls, rivers, mountains and UNESCO sites are reserved. Museums, monuments, caves, nature parks and reserves are also in the list. Internet names of monasteries, customs and rituals ("nestinarstvo" and "surva") as well as resorts are requested in Cyrillic.
2986 companies and private individuals have also expressed their intention to register 6900 internet names in Cyrillic. Their applications will be considered before being registered as Internet names in the top-level domain .bg, from June 1.
The Public Council has discussed a Safer Internet Center's proposal for special requirements for organizations that would like to register the domain "деца.бг" (children.bg). According to Georgi Apostolov, who is a representative of the organization, every third user of Internet is under the age of 18 years. In this regard, the European Alliance for Child Safety Online gathers supporters to send a message to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). The draft letter insists for more serious security measures when registering domains related to children in all languages. During the discussion, the Chairman of the Public Council, Deputy Minister Dimitar Genovski, assigned to the members of the Council to prepare a position paper on the initiative.
