We change training, examinations and control of young drivers. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications Angel Popov at today's conference "Together for Safer Roads", organized by the Union of Bulgarian Motorists. In his words, these issues were laid down in the division of the Road Traffic Act and the creation of two new laws - the Vehicle Drivers Act and the Road Vehicles Act, as well as the legal framework for them.
Angel Popov pointed out that for more than a year he has been running a modern system for control of the theoretical exams, "White rooms". He added that the attempts for unregulated exams had drastically diminished, with some cases where people with fake ID cards appear instead of specific candidates. "To deal with this problem, we've equipped our examiners with special means of identifying fake ID cards. We are going to connect our system to the Ministry of the Interior, so that the scanning of the ID card will automatically check if it is false, "the deputy minister also said. We are also working on changing the exam questions by planning to reduce the number of questions and to put in a second part of the exam where there are video cases to test the respondents' reaction, he said.
Regarding the technical checkpoints, Deputy Minister Angel Popov announced that the control is tightened and many points are sanctioned, while others are closed. The main violations are the unauthorized passage of technically faulty cars and the admission of unpaid vehicles. EA "Automobile Administration" begins to cancel the certificates of good standing issued in breach. The deputy minister also said that in some of the stations the video surveillance cameras were replaced with better ones and installed additional ones, which would cover all.
"With the creation of the Law on Road Vehicles for the first time we create a register of all auto repair shops in the country," said Angel Popov. He added that in the new law, garages are set to provide a guarantee for the repairs made, the origin of the parts that are used to be clear, so that the vehicles can be put on the road technically correct.
