Carrying out joint checks using the method of comprehensive roadside checks is one of the most effective ways of preventing drivers from carrying passengers and goods. This was stated by Borislav Muerov, the Executive Director of the Automobile Administration Agency, during today’s action, which is taking place in the area of the road junction ‘Zherkovo’ on Hemus Motorway. He pointed out that this approach is applied in many EU countries and has a positive effect on road safety.
‘There is no selectivity in these checks. They are carried out by several institutions at the same time along the main transport corridors, allowing more vehicles to be checked. During the last action, which took place last month, the employees of the Automobile Administration Agency checked 3,511 motor vehicles and drew up 1,471 acts’, Borislav Muerov said. According to him, the most frequent violations found by the inspectors are related to the observance of driving and rest hours of drivers, work with tachograph devices, various technical defects, overloading and irregular documents. Since the beginning of the year, the total number of motor vehicles inspected by the Road Administration Agency carrying out passenger and cargo transportation is 23,277, with a total of 3,967 acts issued.
The wide-ranging inspections are carried out according to an approved plan by the Ministry of the Interior with the participation of officials from the Automobile Administration Agency, the Customs Agency, the National Revenue Agency, the Road Infrastructure Agency and the General Labour Inspectorate Executive Agency.
