100% of the Bulgarian projects applied under the Digital Europe Programme have been approved for funding. The Ministry of Transport and Communications provides administrative and organisational support to organisations in submitting proposals.
3 projects with 5 Bulgarian organisations have been submitted by Bulgaria. All have received very high marks and will be funded. The financial support is for the creation of data spaces, end-to-end asset management in critical manufacturing industries, mobility and media data. The funding received from Bulgarian organisations amounts to EUR 844,069.
Since its launch in 2021, the Digital Europe Programme has approved 18 projects in the areas of digital skills, cyber security, European Digital Innovation Hubs, a National Quantum-communications Infrastructure Plan, data spaces, etc. Bulgarian organisations have received EUR 16.4 million.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications is also the national coordinator of the Connecting Europe Facility sectoral projects. Two projects are being implemented under this financial instrument. In the framework of 5G SEAGUL, A1 Bulgaria in partnership with the Greek communications companies — WINGS ICT Solutions and COSMOTE, will provide uninterrupted 5G and roaming services on the cross-border transport corridor between Sofia and Athens. This will allow the movement of autonomous vehicles and improve connectivity in less populated areas. The Black Sea Landing Point Project foresees a study of possible points for deployment of submarine cable systems along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
