The passage of freight trains from the port of Burgas to the internal railway connections of the country is now significantly facilitated. This was said by Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Biser Minchev during the opening of the rehabilitated railway line between Port of Burgas and Vladimir Pavlov station.
Deputy Minister Minchev explained that this is good news for all carriers who use combined transport and will save them time and resources. ‘Today's investment of nearly BGN 5 million has a great benefit for the business and for the freight that travels by sea and rail,’ Bisser Minchev pointed out. The Deputy Minister added that in line with the growing economy in the European Union, rail freight transport in Bulgaria is also undergoing development and investments in this direction are of particular importance.
The project ‘Rehabilitation of railway track from switch № 103 (Port of Burgas) to switch № 20 (Vladimir Pavlov station)’ is financed by the EU Cohesion Fund and OP Transport and Transport Infrastructure 2014-2020. The value of the construction contract is BGN 4 978 974.
