Due to the high activity of state, municipal, non-governmental and corporate organizations in the process of domain name registration in Cyrillic “бг“, deadline for preservation of Internet names is extended until the end of May. The initial period, which was envisaged for domains with reserved names, was until 8 May.
Over 200 administrations from the executive, municipal and judiciary authorities have expressed their desire to join the new Bulgarian web space. 5844 domains are claimed by non-governmental, public and business organizations.
The register of "protected" names for the needs of the state is elaborated by the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications in dialogue with the state institutions. The lists will be examined by the Public Council to the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications and will be presented to the organization that manages the internet space .бг - "IMENA.BG" AD.
Until now, requests have been filed by 80 municipal and 17 district administrations, some of them retaining over 5 variants. Local authorities reserve not only the name of the settlement, but also typical names for museums, customs or localities such as "The Feast of the Gods of Wine" and "Maleshevo sings and dances".
The administration of the president has applied for over 40 domains, among which is an internet name dedicated to the “Bulgarian Christmas” initiative. With the highest number of proposals among Ministries is the Ministry of Interior - over 35, including the emergency telephone - 112.бг.
Internet names in Cyrillic were requested by six state commissions, 15 executive agencies, 6 state agencies, 5 agencies to the Council of Ministers, dozens of courts. Ten universities wished to join the Internet in Cyrillic. Most suggestions have been made by the management of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski "- over 20 variants.
After the expiration of the initial period for requests of Internet names in Cyrillic to be filed by state and public organizations, the process will be open to anyone who wants to have Internet address in Cyrillic.
