Bulgaria will continue to work on the main priorities of the International Transport Forum and will develop and implement policies that will improve accessibility to transport infrastructure and services in the transport sector, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Anna Natova said at the International Transport Forum, which takes place from 21 to 24 May in Leipzig, Germany.
Anna Natova noted that intelligent transport systems are being introduced in Bulgaria and the infrastructure is being modernized, with efforts also focused on the North-South corridor.
At a ministerial round table, member states discussed short- and long-term measures to support Ukraine in rebuilding the country's destroyed and reconstructing its existing infrastructure.
Anna Natova stressed the readiness of the Bulgarian side to support the reconstruction of the transport system through exchange of experience and assistance in the implementation of specific infrastructure projects of the Ukrainian state.
Deputy Minister Natova met with the Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Municipalities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Serhiy Derkach. She expressed support for the extension of the EU-Ukraine Road Freight Agreement.
Anna Natova also spoke with Mrs. Munkhnasan from the Ministry of Road Development and Transport of Mongolia. They commented on the readiness of the two countries to sign the Road Transport Agreement, agreeing that a second expert meeting is needed to finalise the agreement.
