Bulgaria supports the main goals of the Single European Sky. This is what the Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Christina Velinova stated in the framework of the meeting of the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council of the European Union (Transport and Telecommunications), which was being held on that day and on the following day in Luxembourg.
"The political and public expectations of this initiative are very high. It is our responsibility to choose the right and working solutions to achieve the set goals. The compromise texts proposed by the Presidency are a significant step in the right direction", Christina Velinova said.
In the field of road transport, the Bulgarian side expressed support for the adoption of a common approach of the Council on the proposal to amend the Directive on rented vehicles without a driver. The proposed amendments provide an opportunity for transport operators to rent vehicles in a country other than the country of establishment.
Participants discussed the adoption of a common approach on transitional measures for the recognition of certificates from third countries. The proposal ensures the unimpeded recognition of seafarers' certificates of professional competence issued by third countries after the end of the transitional period on January 18, 2022.
